Dear Evan Hansen – Hit New Off-Broadway Show
At some point in time, I’m sure everyone has felt like an outsider, like they’re not really part of anything? *collective ‘aww’* It’s nice to know you’re not the only one feeling like that, I always found comfort in knowing I’m not alone, or finding someone who’s a bit like me. And now it looks like we’ve found one that has maybe even a couple more issues than we do! From the directors of RENT, and Next to Normal, comes a new musical, Dear Evan Hansen, hitting the stage for a second time as a brilliant new Off-Broadway show. Featuring Pitch Perfect star Ben Platt as Evan, this hit new show looks extremely promising. With music and lyrics by the dynamic duo that is Benj Pask and Justin Paul, who were a part of the creative team for Dogfight, another extremely successful show, this one looks like it might be a great hit. And with Michael Greif (Grey Gardens and If/Then) as director, I’m sure we can expect great things from Dear Evan Hansen.
And I’m guessing we’re all asking the same question here ‘So what is Dear Evan Hansen actually about?’ Well…
“All his life Evan Hansen has felt invisible. To his peers, to the girl he loves, sometimes even to his own mother. But that was before he wrote the letter – that led to the incident- that started the lie – that ignited a movement – that inspired a community – and changed Evan’s status from the ultimate outsider into the somebody everyone wants to know. But how long can Evan keep his secret? And at what price?”
Dear Evan Hansen, will be making its second appearance, after a sold-out run in Washington D.C. Making its New York premiere at the ‘Tony Kiser Theatre’ in Midtown New York on the 26th March 2016. I imagine tickets will be selling fast, so if you’re out there why not take a look.
